New Delhi. Former Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das has been given a big responsibility once again. He has been appointed to the post of Principal Secretary of PM Narendra Modi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has issued an order regarding the appointment of Shaktikanta Das. It said that Das will continue in the post of Principal Secretary-2 till the tenure of Prime Minister Modi or further order. With this, PM Modi has now become two Principal Secretaries. PK Mishra is posted as Principal Secretary-1 of PM Modi and he comes to his faithful people.

Shaktikanta Das, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, is considered to be expert on finance, revenue and economic affairs. While in administrative service, he has a long experience of working in all areas. Das will play an important role in giving strategic advice to the PMO in economic and financial matters. In the year 2018, Shaktikanta Das was appointed as the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Recently, Das retired from the post of RBI Governor on December 2024. During his 6 -year tenure of the Reserve Bank Governor, Das took many such decisions which proved to be beneficial for India in terms of economy.

Das played an important role in maintaining more than 7 percent of the economic growth in the remaining four -year tenure after the first two years in RBI. He maintained the country’s economic growth even during the Kovid-19 epidemic. Shaktikanta Das was also appointed as a member of the 15th Finance Commission and Sherpa of India in G20 after retiring from the Reserve Bank. Das also played a major role in implementing GST in July 2017. Das also has an experience of India’s representation in IMF, G20 and BRICS.
