New Delhi. The new BJP government has been sworn in in Delhi. With this, BJP is now going to hand over the responsibility of the post of Assembly Speaker to Vijedar Gupta. Vijender Gupta himself has confirmed that he has received the green signal for the post of president from the party high command. When reporters questioned BJP MLA Vijender Gupta about this, he said, the party has decided that I have to sit in the post of Delhi Assembly Speaker. He said, Delhi Assembly is a temple of democracy and I want the assembly to run through its rules and laws.

Vijender Gupta said, I will work to increase the dignity of the House, my priority is to ensure the development of Delhi. Vijender Gupta has been elected MLA from Rohini assembly seat for the third consecutive time. In the 2015 assembly elections, Vijender Gupta became an MLA for the first time when BJP had won only three seats in Delhi. After this, he became an MLA from this seat for the second time in 2020 and now the public has chosen him for the third time. Earlier, he was the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly in the Aam Aadmi Party government. Gupta has also won municipal elections three times from Rohini.
Vijender Gupta, who started his politics from Delhi University Students Union, has also been the President of Delhi BJP. Vijender Gupta first contested the MCD councilor in 1997 and also won it. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Gupta contested from Chandni Chowk on a BJP ticket but was defeated by Kapil Sibal of Congress. In 2013, Vijender Gupta contested against Sheila Dixit and Arvind Kejriwal from New Assembly Delhi seat, although he was defeated.
