Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found to be dead in blood -soaked at his residence on Sunday, he suffered several injuries with a sharp weapon on his body, PTI said. His son Kartikesh alleged that the murder was done by his mother Pallavi. According to Kartikesh’s statement, both Pallavi and his sister Kriti are suffering from serious mental illness. The police have taken both of them into custody.
According to the report, there was a fight between Pallavi and Prakash over a property dispute. The debate during this time became violent, allegedly threw chili powder at Prakash, causing his eyes to go and stabbed him with a knife.
Kartikesh claimed that his mother had been threatening to kill Prakash for more than a week, after which Prakash went to live with his sister. According to the Times of India, “My younger sister Kriti went there and brought her back against her wish.” According to media reports, Pallavi allegedly confessed to a close friend that he “killed the demon”.
“Initial investigation suggests that things may be of internal nature,” India Today quoted Bangalore police chief B Dayanand.
Who was Om Prakash?
According to Hindustan Times report, Prakash, originally from Champaran, Bihar, was a 1981 batch Indian Police Service Officer. His career began as Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) in Harpanhali and continued to climb up in the ranks until the DGP of Karnataka on 1 March 2015, until his retirement in 2017.
According to HT, he was also appointed as ASP in Ballari district and SP in Shivamogga, North Kannada and Chikkamgaluru. In addition, he also held the post in Agni and Emergency Services and Crime Investigation Department. Light was the master’s degree holder in geology. The deceased was found on the ground floor of its three -storey house in Bangalore’s High End HSR layout.
