New Delhi. Stock market regulator SEBI Chief Madhavi Puri Buch has to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament today. There will be questions and answers from Madhavi Puri Buch in the PAC of Parliament. The chairman of the Parliament’s PAC is Congress MP KC Venugopal. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has alleged that PAC chairman may take an unbiased stand against SEBI chief Madhavi Puri Buch because of her political interest. In such a situation, there are chances of an uproar in the PAC meeting.
Opposition parties including Congress have been continuously demanding that Madhavi Puri Buch be removed from the post of SEBI chief. At the same time, recently a government inquiry committee has declared Madhavi Puri Buch innocent of all the charges. Earlier, US short seller Hindenburg Research had alleged that Madhavi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch had investments in a foreign company, which was used to increase the share price of Adani Group. Hindenburg Research had alleged that for this reason SEBI chief Madhavi Puri Buch did not take interest in investigating the Adani case. At the same time, on Hindenberg’s allegations, Madhavi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch had said that all the allegations are baseless and their financial transactions are like an open book. Let us tell you that a committee formed by the Supreme Court has already termed the allegations against Adani Group in this case as false.
Madhavi Puri Buch and Dhaval Buch had also said in their statement that SEBI has taken action against Hindenberg Research under enforcement laws. The SEBI chief and her husband had said that it was unfortunate that in response to the show cause notice, Hindenburg Research tried to assassinate their character. Madhavi Puri Buch and Dhaval Buch had also made it clear in their statement that they had given all the financial records to SEBI in the last few years. Both of them had said in their statement that they can also give the documents to the competent authority when they were mere citizens.
