Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Tuesday announced that his party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), is likely to contest the Delhi Assembly elections next month.
Chirag Paswan said that LJP (Ram Vilas) will contest on those seats which will strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the national capital.
Paswan told reporters, “Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)’s policy is to strengthen the NDA alliance and contest elections only on those seats where victory will strengthen the alliance. Like Jharkhand, there is winability in the Delhi elections too. “We will contest elections only on those seats where LJP (Ram Vilas) candidates have influence. We will not compromise on our strike rate by contesting on additional seats.”
The last date for filing nominations for the election is January 17, the date for scrutiny of nominations is January 18. Candidates can withdraw their nomination till January 20. Chirag Paswan hit out at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor has “insulted” the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
