Shiv Sena sources say that whatever news is circulating in the media about Sameer Wankhede is speculative and imaginary. No such proposal has come before Shiv Sena party. It was also being claimed in the news that Sameer Shinde can join Shiv Sena and contest from Dharavi or other seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Who is Sameer Wankhede?

Sameer Wankhede is an IRS officer and is posted as zonal officer of Narcotics Control Bureau. In October 2021, Sameer had arrested Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan for taking drugs at a cruise party. After this case, Sameer came into limelight overnight. Later, Sameer Wankhede was also accused of corruption in this case. After this, a departmental inquiry was also conducted against him.

Sameer Wankhede is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore to save Aryan Khan. In this matter, CBI has registered a case against him which is currently pending in the court. Earlier, after the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, when a drug-related case came to light, Sameer Wankhede had arrested Sushant’s girlfriend and Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik Chakraborty under the NDPS Act. In November 2020, Sameer Wankhede had also detained comedian Bharti Singh and her husband while registering a case in a drug case.
