New Delhi. The weather is changing rapidly across the country. Along with the threat of cyclonic storm, warnings of rain and hailstorm have been issued in 9 states. While North India is in the grip of severe cold, heavy rains and strong winds continue in areas of South India. The snowfall in the hilly areas has further increased the cold. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted similar weather in different parts of the country till November 26.
Possibility of heavy rain due to cyclonic storm
According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclonic Circulation is forming in the equatorial Indian Ocean off the Sumatra coast. Its impact will be visible around the southern Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. Strong winds and heavy rain are forecast in the region.

Which states will be affected?
Due to the cyclonic effect, there may be rain and hailstorm in many states till November 26.
South India: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry Northeast India: Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura Andaman and Nicobar Islands
What will be the effect?
There is a possibility of hailstorm in some areas along with light to moderate rain. Wind speed in Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas may reach 35-55 km per hour. Fishermen have been prohibited from venturing into the maritime areas, especially around Kerala, Lakshadweep and the Andaman Sea.

Cold and fog outbreak in North India
The effect of cold is continuously increasing in the states of North India. Dense fog has blurred the morning and evening view in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. Light sunshine definitely provides relief during the day, but the cold continues.
There is a possibility of further drop in temperature due to dense fog and frost. The minimum temperature was recorded at 5°C in Mount Abu, Rajasthan and -0.4°C in Srinagar. There may be light rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Effect of cold and pollution in Delhi-NCR
The effect of cold is gradually increasing in Delhi and NCR. There has been slight improvement in air pollution, but the cold in the morning and evening is likely to increase further due to dense fog.
Meteorological Department’s advice
An alert has been issued for fishermen to stay away from the sea in cyclonic areas. Road and rail traffic may be affected due to fog, be careful. Farmers have been advised to take measures to protect crops from hailstorm and rain.
