Bahraich. The search for man-eating wolves is going on in UP’s Bahraich district. Wolves have attacked some villages in the district and killed 8 people so far. While, more than 2 dozen people have also been injured in wolf attacks. These wolves have created fear among people in 30 villages. The forest department is continuously searching for wolves. The forest department has caught 4 wolves so far by setting up cages. Whereas, 2 other wolves have not been caught yet. The 4 wolves caught by the forest department have been sent to Gorakhpur Zoo. 2 wolves are being searched by deploying drones along with the forest department’s foot teams in the entire area.

In Bahraich, people are keeping watch at night with sticks due to fear of man-eating wolves. Abhishek Singh, CO of the Forest Department in Bahraich division, told the media that the entire team under the leadership of DFO is engaged in the exercise of catching wolves in Bahraich. He told that the presence of wolves in the area has been confirmed through drones. The CO of the Forest Department said that the two wolves that have not been caught so far are in this area. He expressed hope that the Forest Department will be successful in catching 2 more wolves by Monday.

This is not the first time that wolves have wreaked havoc in UP. Earlier too, many children have lost their lives in UP because of wolves. In 1996, wolves killed 33 children in UP and injured 20 others. Then the forest department launched a big campaign and succeeded in killing 10 wolves. A pack of wolves hunts and mostly preys on small children. Due to their habit of hiding in the fields and being very clever, it is not easy to catch wolves.
