A woman gave birth to a child in an Air India Express flight coming from Muscat to Mumbai. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the Thai citizen woman suddenly started suffering childbirth during the flight. Fortunately, the airlines’ trained cabin crew and a passenger who were traveling as a passenger immediately helped the woman.
Crew members made a safe and quiet atmosphere in the flight, using their training, so that delivery could be done properly. The pilots immediately informed the air traffic control and sought permission for emergency landing at Mumbai Airport. The medical team and ambulance were already ready as the flight landed. The woman and the newborn were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where a female airline staff also accompanied her to get all kinds of help.
Air India Express appreciated excellent coordination between pilots, cabin crew, ground staff, medical team and airport officials in the incident. Airlines said in a statement, “This extraordinary event reflects the feeling of preparation and cooperation of our crew.” The airlines are also in touch with the Consulate of Thailand in Mumbai to help the woman’s further visit.
Crew members who helped in the incident included Captain Ashish Waghani, Captain Faraz Ahmed, Senior Crew Member Sneha Naga, and cabin crew Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid, and Muskan Chauhan.
