CWC released warning
The Central Water Commission said that flood warnings were issued due to the rise in the water level of Yamuna on the Old Railway Bridge because it has reached the danger mark i.e. 205.33 meters. The Commission has directed all administrative units to be vigilant. According to PTI, people living inside the river embankments will be warned and preparations are being made to take them to safe places.
According to the Central Flood Room officials, the water being released every hour from Wazirabad and Hathinikund barrage is the main reason for the increase in the water level of Yamuna. The released water takes 48 to 50 hours to reach Delhi. Despite the release of small amount of water from the upper areas, the water level is increasing, which can make the situation serious. According to the forecast, the water level will increase slightly, but by this evening it is likely to stay below the danger mark.
