Former Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi and communist leader Sitaram Yechury passed away. At the same time, Baba Siddiqui’s murder in Maharashtra this year was especially shocking. Baba Siddiqui was a four-time MLA from Congress, who later joined NCP. On 12 October 2024, Baba Siddiqui was shot dead in Mumbai. A big leader left Maharashtra politics due to the assembly elections.
Sitaram Yechury dies at the age of 72
Sitaram Yechury, a veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, also passed away this year. Yechury, who was a Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal. Had served as the General Secretary of his party (CPIM). He died on 12 September 2024 at the age of 72. His tenure in politics, which included serving as a member of the Politburo of the CPI(M) from 1992 onwards. Yechury is known for his advocacy of leftist policies and his significant contribution to political discourse in India.
Sushil Kumar Modi died on 13 May this year
At the same time, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, a big face in Bihar politics, passed away this year. Sushil Kumar Modi, who played an important role in the governance of Bihar from 2005 to 2020, died on 13 May 2024 at the age of 72. He was suffering from cancer. His departure was a blow to the BJP and the political structure of the state.
Natwar Singh, who was Foreign Minister in Congress government, passes away
The Congress Party also suffered a major blow with the death of Natwar Singh on 10 August 2024. Natwar Singh, who had a distinguished career as an Indian Foreign Service officer before joining politics, served as the External Affairs Minister in the first UPA government. This big leader of BRS also passed away
Telangana statehood movement lost one of its prominent leaders Jitta Balakrishna Reddy on 6 September 2024. At the age of 52, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former TRS youth worker’s contribution to the state of Telangana was invaluable. Reddy’s untimely demise was a blow to his party and the movement he led.
