Kolkata Rape and Murder Case: A heart-wrenching incident took place on the night of August 9 at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. A female trainee doctor was brutally murdered after being raped. This incident shocked the entire country. There were statewide demonstrations in West Bengal and serious questions were raised on law and order. The general public and social organizations demanded the government to make strict laws.
Wayanad Landslide: A massive landslide occurred in Wayanad district of Kerala on the night of 30 July which devastated the entire area. 231 people were confirmed dead in this tragedy, while the total death toll was said to exceed 420. According to government figures, this landslide caused a loss of approximately Rs 1200 crore. After the incident, rescue operations were carried out in the area, but the scene of destruction was heart-wrenching.
Karnataka Murder Case: On September 3, a murder case in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru shook the entire country. The accused murdered his girlfriend Mahalakshmi, cut her body into 59 pieces and kept them in the refrigerator. The accused claimed in his suicide note that he was forced to take this dreadful step due to Mahalakshmi’s behavior. This incident put humanity to shame.
Tirupati Laddu Controversy: On September 18, a big controversy broke out in Andhra Pradesh over the Prasad Laddu of Tirupati temple. Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu alleged that animal fat was being mixed in the laddus. The controversy escalated rapidly and the Tirupati temple administration had to respond. Reasi terrorist attack: On June 9, terrorists attacked a bus in Pauni area of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The bus was going from Shiv Khori to Katra when the terrorists started firing. In this attack, 9 people including a child died, while many people were injured when the bus fell into a ditch.
Hathras stampede incident: A stampede broke out after a religious satsang on July 2 in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. 123 people died in this accident, while hundreds were injured. The reason for the accident was said to be lack of safety arrangements. Bhole Baba alias Narayan Sakar Hari, who organized the satsang, shifted to Gwalior after the incident.
