A 17 -year -old boy named Shaktiswar was killed in Kolachal area of Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. This boy was drinking only fruit juice for three months, he had left the food completely. He learned this diet from a video seen on YouTube. He did not consult a doctor or any dietician.
Breathing and sudden death
There was worship at home on Thursday and for the first time he ate a little solid food. Shortly thereafter, he vomited, was very restless and he fell unconscious. An attempt was made to save him but his life could not be saved.
Was worried about weight
The people and neighbors of the area said that he was worried about his weight since childhood. He stayed away from sports and now when he took admission in a college in Tiruchirappalli, he wanted to lose weight before going there. Because of this, he started drinking only juice for three months and was also taking some medicines and started exercise.
Doctors’ opinion left
Doctors have not yet given the real cause of death. Some reports say suffocating, but the officials are waiting for the post -mortem report to decide whether he died due to his diet or there was some other reason.
Similar case in Kerala
Another such case took place in March 2025 this year in Kannur district of Kerala, where a student of 18 -year -old Srinanda tried to lose weight for months. She too was overcome by eating due to wrong advice on the Internet, used to exercise a lot and finally was hospitalized after being alive on water, but could not be saved.
Doctors warning
Health experts have repeatedly warned that following any hard diet without consulting a doctor, especially it can be very dangerous to adopt things learned from social media or YouTube. Especially teenagers should avoid such diet and before making any major changes, one must consult a doctor or nutritionist.
