10 lakh compensation to victims of IAS coaching center accident, action against officers soon


IAS Coaching Center Incident in Delhi: The central government has swung into action on the incident that took place at an IAS coaching centre in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena inspected the spot and late in the evening announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the victims. Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has formed a high level committee to investigate the incident which will submit its report in a month. According to sources, major action can be taken against the officials of Delhi Fire Department, Delhi Police and MCD in the next 24 hours.

Let us tell you that on the late evening of 27th July, three students studying in a coaching centre in Rajendra Nagar died due to water logging in the basement. There is anger among the students regarding this accident. Hundreds of students taking coaching from different centres in Delhi are protesting on this issue. Taking the demands of the students seriously, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has announced to give Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased students.

The Lieutenant Governor said that he would try to ensure that those who lost their children in this accident get proper compensation. Meanwhile, a compensation of Rs 10 lakh has already been announced.

Regarding the steps being taken at his level, VK Saxena said that action will be taken against the officials of DFS, Police, MCD on the Rajendra Nagar accident within 24 hours. Charge sheet for disciplinary inquiry will be filed within a week and the inquiry will be completed within a month. He said that a regulatory mechanism will be created to fix the fare as soon as possible. The electricity department will immediately investigate the overcharging of electricity in the area.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the joint task force of MCD and Delhi Fire Service, formed on the orders of the Delhi High Court regarding the fire incident in Mukherjee Nagar earlier this year, will now survey the buildings in Rajendra Nagar area as well. All basements and illegal structures that do not comply with the building bye-laws and fire safety rules of MPD 2021 will be sealed. This task force will audit Mukherjee Nagar, Kalu Sarai, Neb Sarai, Ber Sarai, Vijay Nagar, Outram Line, Hudson Lane, Gupta Colony etc. and will seal all illegal basements and constructions.

On the other hand, after the action of the Lieutenant Governor, the Central Government has also taken this matter seriously and has ordered an investigation. The Home Ministry has formed a high-level committee for investigation. It will include the Additional Secretary of the Government of India, the Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, the Special CP of Delhi Police. The committee will give a report on why this accident happened, who was responsible and how such accidents can be prevented in the coming days.
