Jamtara, the uncrowned king of the world of cyber crime, is now becoming the king of every district in the country. Cases of digital arrests are increasing. On the other hand, all government and non-government departments including the police keep alerting people from time to time to avoid cyber crime. Even after this, incidents of cyber crime are not stopping.
But the initiative of Mumbai Police has brought a big success in this case. The ‘1930’ cyber helpline started for people to alert the police about online fraud has contacted the banks immediately and prevented fraud worth Rs 100 crore from happening in Mumbai in the last seven months.
According to information received from Mumbai Police, Rs 100 crore was prevented from falling into the hands of fraudsters and this was possible by taking action in 35,918 cases of online fraud related to share trading, investments, courier calls, digital arrest threats, online tasks etc.
After receiving a complaint on the helpline, three officers and 50 constables working in three shifts immediately contact the banks and their nodal personnel to stop further transfer of money. The accounts of the accused have also been frozen.
Police said that people should follow the police guidelines to avoid becoming victims of cyber fraud and in case of such incident, they should immediately contact the ‘1930’ helpline.
