Something happened to some girls who had gone to join the NCC camp in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, due to which they are very scared. This NCC camp turned out to be fake, where a girl was sexually assaulted and 13 other girls were molested. This incident has come to light amid nationwide outrage and protest against the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Police said that 11 people, including the organizers of the camp and the school principal, have been arrested.
According to the police, those arrested included two teachers and a journalist. Police said the private school did not have any National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit and the organisers had told the management that hosting such camps would help them qualify.

Police said the school did not even check the background of the group selected for the camp. They said a total of 41 students, including 17 girls, attended the three-day camp held earlier this month. Police also said the girls alleged they were taken out of an auditorium where they were kept and sexually abused. They said there was no teacher to monitor the camp.

The girls have been medically examined, while the district child welfare committee has also initiated action. District police superintendent P Thangadurai told NDTV, “The school authorities were aware of the sexual offences but decided to hush up the matter instead of informing the police. The students were reportedly instructed not to take it seriously.”
The police is investigating whether there is any racket behind this, which runs such fake camps and whether such camps have been organized in other schools as well. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
