Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Kuldeep Singh said on Thursday that 175 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir, while 183 have been arrested since March 2021. The CRPF killed 19 militants and arrested 699 in various operations in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected states during the same period. Two terrorists have surrendered in Jammu and Kashmir, while 598 Maoist cadres or supporters have surrendered in Chhattisgarh and 287 in the Northeast region.
Singh also said that during this period, 253 weapons were recovered in Jammu and Kashmir, 164 in LWE area and 128 in Northeast region, while more than 96 kg of explosives were recovered in Jammu and Kashmir, 1,493 kg in LWE areas and Northeast region. 26 kg of explosives were recovered in the
CRPF has recovered 23 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in J&K, 398 in LWE areas and four in North Eastern states, while 232 grenades have been recovered in J&K, 12 in LWE areas and 27 in Northeast states.
Referring to the recent killing of CRPF jawans who were on leave at home in the Kashmir Valley, Singh said this is the first such incident this year and the security agencies acted promptly and arrested the culprit in the shortest possible time.
He also said that a total of 41 VIPs were provided VVIP security cover during the recently concluded assembly elections in five states, while the security of 27 security guards has been withdrawn after the elections.
Singh also said that the force will hold its 83rd Raising Day Parade at MA Stadium in Jammu on Saturday – the first time it is being celebrated outside Delhi-NCR.
