Devon Conway
New Zealand Cricket Team: New Zealand’s Finn Allen has opted out of the central contract to play in franchise cricket. On the other hand, experienced batsman Devon Conway has also refused to be a part of the central contract. But he will be given a casual contract. Conway has made himself available for all international matches except the white-ball matches against Sri Lanka in January. He is ready to play only in SA20. Finn Allen and Devon Conway were included in the list of central contracts only last month.
Conway thanks New Zealand for casual contract
Devon Conway said that first of all I would like to thank New Zealand Cricket for their support in this process. The decision to step down from the central contract is not one I have taken lightly, but I believe it is best for me and the family at this current time. Playing for the Black Caps is still at the top for me and I am extremely excited to represent New Zealand and win games of international cricket.
I am happy to be part of the squad for the upcoming Test matches that are part of the World Test Championship and excited to play in the Champions Trophy next year if selected. Conway has been included in the squad for the Test series against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka next month.
Finn Allen is out of contract
To be eligible for a central contract under New Zealand Cricket, players must make themselves available for the domestic Super Smash tournament when they are not playing international cricket. Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson also distanced themselves from the central contract. On the other hand, Finn Allen has not even been given a casual contract. Because he has also decided to reject the option of a central contract.
