Rome: 64 people went missing in the sea due to the sinking of two ships in the sea off the southern coast of Italy, while 11 people have died in this accident. United Nations agencies have given information about Hagadase in a statement. Meanwhile, about another accident, German aid group ‘Rescship’ said in a post on ‘X’ that in the first ship accident, rescue workers have found the bodies of 10 migrants near the small island of Lampedusa in Italy.
People from these countries were aboard the ship
The missing people include 26 children, all of whom were migrants. Aid groups, coast guard officials and UN agencies said one ship had left from Libya and the other from Turkey. It had people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt and Syria on board.
Accidents keep happening constantly
According to UN data, more than 23,500 migrants have lost their lives in this water area since 2014. Earlier this month, 11 bodies were found on the Libyan coast. Last year, a migrant boat sailing from Turkey collided with rocks near the city of Cutro in Calabria. 94 people were killed in this accident. (AP)
