During the counting of votes in the Lok Sabha elections, sitting MP from Indore, Madhya Pradesh and BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani raised such a victory flag that all the old records were broken. Shankar Lalwani defeated BSP candidate Sanjay Solanki by 10 lakh 8 thousand 77 votes. With this, Shankar Lalwani has become the leader who has won by the biggest margin in the history of Indian politics. Earlier, the record of winning by the biggest margin was in the name of BJP’s CR Patel. Patel had won from Navsar seat of Gujarat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a huge margin of more than 6 lakh votes.

Shankar Lalwani, who won with the highest number of votes in Indore, is currently also an MLA from Indore and has been associated with the Sangh for a long time. Shankar has studied B.Tech from an engineering college in Mumbai. However, after returning to Indore after studies, he did not take up a job and tried his hand in business. After this, he got inclined towards politics, so while trying his hand in politics, he was a councilor in Indore from 1994 to 1999. After this, he also held the post of Chairman of Indore Municipal Corporation till 2004. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Shankar Lalwani was declared as the BJP candidate from Indore where he defeated Pankaj Sanghvi of Congress by 5 lakh 47 thousand votes.
