Mumbai. The Customs Department has seized a total of 32.79 kg gold worth Rs 19.15 crore hidden in the underwear and luggage of two foreign women nationals in separate cases at the Mumbai International Airport.

According to information received from sources, about 32.69 kg of gold has been seized from them, which is worth Rs 19 crore 15 lakh in the market. Official sources revealed that both the women were smuggling so much gold by hiding it in their undergarments and bags.

Giving information to the media on Tuesday, a customs official said that after landing at Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday, the movements of two female passengers from African countries were suspected. Based on the suspicion, customs officials searched them, initially nothing was found, but when a thorough investigation was done again, about 32 kg of illegal gold was found from them, which is worth about 19 crores in the market.
Giving information, customs officials said that both the women had hidden the gold in their bags and underwear. Both the foreign women have been detained and are currently being questioned intensively. Police further said that both the women are said to be from the African country Kenya. They had taken a flight from Nairobi to Mumbai.
