Ranchi. Jharkhand has once again created history in wrestling. Two wrestlers from Jharkhand have been selected for the Indian team. Both these wrestlers will show their prowess in the U-15 and U-20 Asian Wrestling Championship, Thailand. Jharkhand’s Anup Kumar in the U-15 38 kg weight category and Amit Kumar Gop in the U-20 77 kg weight category secured a place in the Indian wrestling team.
The selection trial of the Indian wrestling team was held in Noida (UP) on Monday for the U-15 and U-20 Junior Asian Wrestling Championship to be held in Siriracha, Thailand from 16 July 2024 to 24 July 2024. In the selection trial, two wrestlers from Jharkhand confirmed their place in the Indian wrestling team. Anup Kumar U 15 38 kg Greco Roman defeated the wrestler from Maharashtra by a score of 8-0 in his first wrestling. In the second wrestling, he defeated the wrestler from Delhi by a score of 8-0. In the final wrestling, Anup defeated the wrestler from Delhi by a score of 8-0 and qualified for the U-15 Asian Wrestling Championship.
In the second trial, Amit Gop U-20 77 kg Greco Roman defeated the wrestler from Uttar Pradesh in his first bout by a score of 13-6. He qualified for the U-20 Asian Wrestling Championship by defeating the wrestler from Chandigarh in the second bout by a score of 11-9 and the wrestler from Delhi in the final bout by a score of 4-3.
President of Jharkhand State Wrestling Association Zeeshan Qamar (IAS), guardian K Ravi Kumar (IAS), Sports Director Jharkhand Sushant Gaurav (IAS) along with Bholanath Singh and several other wrestling officials have congratulated Jharkhand wrestlers Anoop Kumar and Amit Gop on their selection in the Indian wrestling team for the U-15 and U-20 Asian Wrestling Championship.
