A total of 22 Kanwariyas came in contact with high tension wire in two separate incidents in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. One Kanwariya died in these incidents, while the condition of two remains critical. In Hardoi, the Kanwariyas had started Jalabhishek from Khajohna of Kachhuna area. They were going towards Mehndi Ghat. Kanwariyas immersed in the devotion of Lord Shiva were dancing to the music of DJ. During this time, the pipe attached to the upper part of the pickup on which the DJ was installed came in contact with the high tension wire.

In Hardoi, eight kanwariyas were burnt after coming in contact with a high tension wire. The condition of two of them remains critical. The injured are being treated. Meanwhile, in Faridabad, Haryana, 14 kanwariyas came in contact with a high tension wire. One of them died and 13 others were burnt.

Accident happened in Faridabad also due to DJ

In Haryana’s Faridabad, people were travelling on a canter-truck and the truck came in contact with a high-tension wire. A police spokesperson said that the deceased has been identified as Nitin (20), a resident of Tigaon. He said that about 14 youths of the village were preparing to go to Haridwar to take the Dak Kanwad, for which they were coming to Tigaon from Ballabhgarh in a canter-truck equipped with loud musical instruments. According to the spokesperson, the canter-truck came in contact with a high-tension wire near Shiv College in Nawada and about 14 Kanwadias sitting in it got badly burnt.

The injured are admitted in Tigwan

He said that all the injured were admitted to a private hospital in Tigaon but seeing Nitin’s critical condition, he was referred to another private hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Local resident Jaiprakash said that the electricity wires are very low and the village sarpanch complained about this to the electricity department but no action was taken.
