A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. According to police, a 22 -year -old girl was allegedly victimized by five youths. This incident is being reported on Friday evening.
According to the complaint, two familiar youths took the victim with him by pretending to get a better job. The woman was seated in a car and was taken to a deserted area of Udala police station area, about 80 km from Bangirposi area. Three other youths already present there also joined the incident. Everyone raped the young woman together and then escaped leaving her alone on the road.
The victim somehow contacted the police and informed about the whole incident. As soon as the complaint was registered, the Udala police station filed a case and started investigation. According to police officials, so far two accused have been taken into custody, while raids are being conducted to search for three others.
Hrushikesh Nayak, Deputy District Police Officer (SDPO) of Udala, told the media that an FIR has been registered on the basis of the victim’s statement. “We have caught two youths involved in the incident. The search for the remaining three is going on. The investigation is moving fast and all the accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
This incident has created outrage throughout the region. Local people say that the administration will have to take further steps to ensure the safety of women. At the same time, medical assistance has been provided to the victim and the process of registering her statement before the magistrate is going on.
Experts believe that in such cases it is necessary to give psychological support to the victims along with a rapid and transparent investigation, so that they can overcome mental trauma. The state government has also summoned the report on the matter.
