Rajkot: A big revelation has happened in the TRP gaming zone fire incident in Rajkot. Two officers have been suspended for tampering with documents. Two employees of Rajkot Municipal Corporation have been arrested for tampering with documents related to the fire incident in a gaming zone last month. 27 people died in the gaming zone fire incident. Police said that 12 people including six government employees have been arrested so far in connection with the incident that took place on May 25 in the TRP gaming zone in Rajkot city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Parthrajsinh Gohil said that the city’s crime branch on Saturday arrested Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s Assistant Town Planning Officer Rajesh Makwana and Assistant Engineer Jaydeep Chaudhary for tampering with the official register after the fire incident. He said, ‘After the fire incident, they tampered with some government documents related to the TRP gaming zone. They also made fake documents.’
Gohil said that so far we have arrested six government employees and six other people in the case of fire in TRP gaming zone. The four government employees who were arrested earlier include Rajkot’s city planning officer M.D. Sagathia, assistant city planning officers Mukesh Makwana and Gautam Joshi and former officer of Kalavad Road Fire Station Rohit Vigora. Last Thursday, gaming zone co-owner Ashok Singh Jadeja surrendered before the police.
Ashok Singh Jadeja is one of the six owners of ‘TRP Gaming Zone’. Five of them have been arrested so far and one died in the fire that broke out on May 25. A manager of the gaming zone has also been arrested in this case. According to the police, during the investigation of the case, it was confirmed that Prakash Hiren, one of the co-owners, died in the fire as he was present inside when the gaming zone caught fire.
CCTV camera footage showed that the fire started when sparks fell on thermocol (polystyrene) sheets during welding work on the ground floor. The employees present there tried to control the fire with the help of fire extinguishers but the fire spread and engulfed the gaming zone. According to the police, the gaming zone was being operated without a fire safety NOC from the fire department of Rajkot Municipal Corporation. After the Rajkot incident, several gaming zones and other entertainment centers across the state were sealed and FIRs were also registered against their owners for operating such facilities without any permission.
