Southport Stabbing
London: The name of the teenager accused of stabbing three girls to death in Southport, northwest England, was made public on Thursday. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke to police chiefs about the violent protests outside Downing Street after the incident. The 17-year-old accused, named Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, was arrested shortly after the attack in Southport on Monday. He was born in Wales and is a resident of Banks village in Lancashire.
The court lifted the ban
His name has been made public after the court lifted the ban. He appeared at Liverpool City Magistrates Court where he was charged with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a knife. Judge Andrew Menary lifted the legal ban on the accused’s name being made public after hearing arguments that his 18th birthday is on August 7 and remanded him in judicial custody until the next hearing on October 25.
Violent clashes broke out after stabbing
In connection with the violent clashes that took place on Wednesday evening after the stabbing incident, the Metropolitan Police said that 111 people have been arrested for crimes such as violence, assault on police officers, possession of knives and offensive weapons and violating the conditions of the protest. Several police officers have also been injured in the incident. Eight other children have been seriously injured in the knife attack incident at a community center in Southport, five of whom are in critical condition. The condition of two adults injured in the incident is also critical. (Language)
