Lucknow. Congress has declared another list of its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday. In this list, the party has given tickets to four candidates from Uttar Pradesh. The most important seat has been given to Maharajganj MLA Virendra Chaudhary. Even in this list, there is no disclosure about Rae Bareli and Amethi. For a long time there have been speculations about who will contest elections from these traditional seats of the Gandhi family.
Congress released its eighth list for the Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday night. The party has announced the names of 14 candidates, including four candidates from UP. Apart from this, the Congress list includes three names from Jharkhand, three from Madhya Pradesh and four from Telangana. Congress has given tickets to Dolly Sharma from Ghaziabad, Nakul Dubey from Sitapur, Virendra Chaudhary from Maharajganj and Shivram Valmiki from Bulandshahr.
By not giving ticket to Amanmani Tripathi, MLA from Nautanwa seat of Maharajganj, he has played a gamble on his old worker. Earlier, on Saturday (23 March), Congress had announced the names of nine candidates from UP, in which the party had fielded Ajay Rai from Varanasi against PM Modi. Apart from this, Pradeep Jain has been given ticket from Jhansi. Let it be known that Congress has got 17 seats in the state under the India Alliance.
Congress has so far announced 208 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, it had released seven separate lists and declared a total of 194 candidates. Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha in the country will start from April 19. After this, voting will be held in six more phases on 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June. About 97 crore registered voters in 543 constituencies of Lok Sabha will be able to exercise their franchise at 10.5 lakh polling stations. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
