At least four Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an encounter with police in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Monday morning. Police officials said that the encounter took place in Tonto and Goilkera areas. Jharkhand Police spokesperson and Inspector General (Operations) Amol V Homkar said, “Four Maoists were killed in the encounter, while two were arrested.” The killed Maoists include a zonal commander, a sub-zonal commander and an area commander. At the same time, two Maoists have been arrested from Chaibasa. An area commander is also among those arrested. Jharkhand Police has also seized rifles of different capacities.
Indian security forces are conducting continuous operations against terrorists and Naxalites these days. Many Naxalites/terrorists have been killed in Jammu-Kashmir and Chhattisgarh as well.
8 Naxalites were killed in Chhattisgarh
8 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Abujhmad of Narayanpur area of Chhattisgarh and an army jawan was also martyred during duty. At the same time, two soldiers were injured. District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) of four districts and 53rd Battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are involved in this operation being conducted against the Naxalites. This operation was started on June 12. This operation was the biggest attack by the security forces on the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Company Number, in which six Naxalites were killed. There was a total reward of Rs 38 lakh on the killed Naxalites.
One terrorist also killed in Jammu and Kashmir
One terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Aragam area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. After firing from both sides, two terrorists fled towards the forest. After a search operation that lasted for several hours, one terrorist was killed. Search operation is still going on to find the other terrorist.
