There are 1627 villages under the seven forest divisions of the forest department in the district, out of which there is a situation of border dispute between revenue and forest department in 438 villages, out of which the dispute has been resolved by line marking in 113 villages while in 333 villages. The dispute resolution process is underway. This information has come to the fore in the review meeting of the Revenue and Forest Department held at the Collectorate on Friday. Collector Umashankar Bhargava, who was reviewing the settlement of border disputes in the meeting, said that disputed cases should be resolved soon. It may be mentioned that guidelines have been issued by the Chief Secretary, Forest Department, Revenue Department for resolving the boundary dispute and instructions have been given by him to make the progress of works available within the stipulated time period. DFO of Forest Department Rajveer Singh informed that there are total seven forest division areas in Vidisha district, out of which the total number of villages is one thousand 627. There are 448 such villages which are adjacent to the forest boundary. He has given instructions to the subordinate staff to ensure the completion of necessary documents for resolving the border disputes of revenue and forest land. He talked about providing copies of the guidelines issued from the government level for solving the prescribed parameters along with training for the concerned to solve the problem. According to Appendix I, he also presented the information of the sub-divisional officer-wise pending forest blocks and area for investigation from sections 5 to 19 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. Collector Bhargava directed the concerned SDM and Forest Department officials that by establishing joint coordination, such disputes should be resolved at the earliest so that such problems do not arise again in future. During this, Additional Collector Vrindavan Singh also reviewed the progress of land acquisition and work of Hanota, Kotha barrage and TAM projects. All the departmental officers were present in the meeting.
