‘Baba’s bulldozer’ in Uttar Pradesh has brought criminals into fear. On Thursday, five accused of gang-rape in Ambedkar Nagar went to the police station fearing bulldozers and handed themselves over to the law. The five accused had fled after raping a minor girl in Jiuli village. The accused, who reached the police station with their relatives, apologized in front of SHO Jaiprakash Singh with folded hands.
After being identified in the investigation, the police had warned of surrender by visiting the house of the accused. The police, who arrived with the bulldozer, had told the family members that if the accused did not surrender, a bulldozer would be fired at the house. Its effect was also visible and everyone went to the police station on their own.
Terming the bulldozer operation as a ‘danger plan’, Ambedkar Nagar Police tweeted, “The wanted accused involved in the gang rape incident surrendered to the police station in fear of the Ambedkar Nagar police’s bulldozer action.”
According to the police, on March 29, six persons had carried out the incident of gangrape in Jiuli village of Jaitpur police station area. One of the accused, Raviprakash Yadav, was arrested by the police on 6 April. Other accused Kamlesh, Shubham, Ramesh, Vijay Kumar, Jaihind were absconding.
