A fierce road accident occurred during the Amarnath Yatra in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. Here, five buses filled with Amarnath pilgrims collided with each other near the anchor site of Chanderkot, in which about 36 devotees were injured. All the injured are being treated at the district hospital Ramban.
Description and cause of accident
Giving information about the accident, Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan said that buses were stopped with passengers near the anchor site in Chanderkot. When these buses started starting their journey again, the brake of a bus failed. That is why she busted with four other buses standing behind. A total of five buses were affected in the accident and there was heavy damage. The accident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which is a major route for Amarnath pilgrims. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has also been informed about the incident. He tweeted and informed the countrymen about the accident and said that there is nothing to panic and continuous monitoring is being done for the safety of Amarnath pilgrims.
The condition of the injured and treatment in the hospital
Dr. Mohammad Rafi, in -charge of Ramban District Hospital, said that a total of 36 pilgrims injured in the accident have been treated in the hospital. No injured needed to be referred to another hospital. 10 patients have been discharged after recovering and the condition of all the rest is stable. The doctor also said that the driver of the last bus of the convoy that came out of Pahalgam had lost control, due to which the brakes of the bus were not working. For this reason, this bus collided with other buses parked in Chanderkot. Four buses have suffered serious damage due to conflict.
Administration’s response and relief work
Soon after the incident, senior police-administration officials reached the hospital and met the injured. The affected buses have been seized and taken to the police station and the statement of the driver has been recorded. Alternative vehicles have also been arranged by the administration for further travel of passengers.
Fourth batch of Amarnath Yatra leaves
On the same day, about 6979 pilgrims went on a journey in two different convoys. It consisted of 5196 men, 1427 females, 24 children, 331 saints and saints and a transgender passenger. Out of these pilgrims, 4226 people are traveling in 161 vehicles and traveling via Pahalgam, which is about 48 km long. At the same time, 2753 pilgrims came out of 151 vehicles from Baltal route, which is 14 km long.
