The Narendra Modi government, during its very first term, emphasized on ending the VIP culture. PM Modi has always been against VIP culture. On many occasions, while traveling in the metro like a common man, PM Modi stops his convoy for the needy on the roads and then lets them go first.
Actually, a video has been shared on the X account named ‘Modi Bharosa’. In which PM Modi is seen taking forward his call and efforts to end VIP culture.
1. Hiraben’s funeral was done in a simple manner.
In the video, PM Modi is telling that when his mother Hira Ben died at the age of 100, she was treated in a government hospital in Gujarat. He died during treatment in the government hospital. Apart from this, the funeral of PM Modi’s mother Hiraben was also done in a simple manner in the government crematorium. There was no VIP culture of any kind or any gathering of politicians for this.
2. Waited for my turn for the vaccine
Talking about the vaccination campaign against Corona virus, PM Modi has said that he could have got the Covid vaccine sooner. But, he waited for his turn. PM Modi said that I could have got the vaccine sooner. But I decided to put it on only when my turn comes.
3. Workers were made chief guests
On ending the VIP culture during the Republic Day celebrations, PM Modi has said that the workers and workers who constructed the Central Vista were made special guests on the occasion.
4. End red light culture from vehicles of senior ministers and officials
Let us tell you that after coming to power at the Centre, PM Modi worked to end the VIP culture. He ended the red light culture in the vehicles of senior ministers and officials. In its ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program in 2017 itself, it had called for ending VIP culture with EPI (every individual is important) culture.
The Modi cabinet had decided that red beacons would not be installed on government vehicles from May 1, 2017. PM Modi himself had said that every Indian is a VVIP. According to the decision taken by the government to end the red beacon culture of VVIP vehicles, there will be no red beacon on the vehicles of any VVIP including the President, Prime Minister and Chief Ministers from May 1. However, permission to use red lights was maintained only in vehicles used in emergency situations like ambulance and fire fighting.
5. Participation of poor children in the convocation ceremony
Talking about the university convocation ceremony, PM Modi says that he has always advocated the participation of poor children in those events. PM Modi said that I tell the organizers that the first 50 seats in the convocation should be for my guest. I make the children who live in the slums and schools around the university attend the convocation ceremony. This is my culture. (With IANS inputs)
