Will Rishabh Pant return to the playing 11 of the ODI team?
IND vs SL 1st ODI: A three-match ODI series will be played between India and Sri Lanka from August 2. The Indian team played its last ODI series of three matches on the tour of South Africa last year. Keeping in mind the Champions Trophy to be held in the year 2025, all the senior players including captain Rohit Sharma are part of the team in this series against Sri Lanka. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has also returned to the ODI team after a long time, who played his last match in this format in November 2022, after which Pant took more than a year to return to international cricket due to being badly injured in a car accident.
Can return to ODI after 611 days
Rishabh Pant returned to international cricket in the T20 World Cup 2024 after becoming fully fit. At the same time, he is now also a part of the team announced for the ODI format series on the tour of Sri Lanka. In such a situation, all eyes are now on Team India’s playing 11 in the first match of this three-match ODI series to be held on August 2, in which if Rishabh Pant returns, he will get a chance to play an ODI match after 611 days. Pant played an ODI match against New Zealand in the month of November in the year 2022. Apart from Rishabh Pant, the option of KL Rahul as the second wicketkeeper is also available in the Indian team announced for the ODI series. In such a situation, it is not going to be an easy task for captain Rohit Sharma to select any one of the two players in the playing 11.
Rishabh Pant has proved himself fully fit since his return
In the IPL 2024 season, Pant returned to professional cricket after being fully fit after being injured in a car accident. After which he was also included in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. While Pant proved himself as a wicketkeeper after his comeback, he also played an important role as a batsman. Pant was part of the playing 11 in the first two matches of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, in which he also played an innings of 49 runs in one match.
