Thane. A shocking incident has come to light in Navi Mumbai of Thane district of Maharashtra, which has shocked everyone in the vicinity. When the police suddenly raided a lodge in Nerul area, they were stunned to see the scene inside. On hearing the news of the police raid, a crowd of people gathered there. People then saw the police taking away 2 men and 7 women from there.
The local people were shocked to see all this. No one could understand what had happened here. On asking the police, it was found that a sex racket was going on in this lodge in Nerul and all the people were arrested on this charge. The police said that the arrested people include a manager and a waiter of the lodge. The women who were rescued from there are from West Bengal, Assam as well as Bangladesh.
Giving information about the whole case, Senior Inspector Prithviraj Ghorpade of the Anti Human Trafficking Cell of Thane Police said that on Friday night they had received a secret information, based on which the lodge was raided. He said that the police had laid a trap and confirmed that a sex racket was being run here.
Ghorpade said, ‘Seven women hailing from the states of West Bengal and Assam as well as Bangladesh have been rescued. Apart from this, lodge manager Avtar Singh Mistry and waiter Kishore Yadav were arrested. A case has been registered against the lodge owner Jai Ramesh Sharma under the Indian Penal Code and Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.’
Such cases of prostitution have been caught earlier also in a lodge located in Nerul area of Navi Mumbai. In February this year also, the police raided a lodge named Raj Inn located in Shiravane and rescued 3 women. (with language input)
