The Defense Ministry on Wednesday urged defense pensioners to complete their annual identification by May 25 to ensure smooth processing of monthly pension.
According to the ministry, verification of the data received till Tuesday reveals that 43,774 defense pensioners who have opted for the online pension disbursement system ‘Sparsh’ have completed their annual identification neither online nor through their respective banks.
At the same time, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, it was said that “In case of old pensioners retired before 2016 and made on the old system of pension, it is informed that about 1.2 lakh pensioners have not completed their annual identification process by any means available.” ‘s.
Earlier this month, the disbursement of monthly pension to 58,275 defense pensioners was delayed as their banks could not verify their annual identity till April 30. On May 4, the Defense Ministry had given a one-time special exemption to these 58,275 affected employees, saying that the pension for April would be deposited on the same day. However, the ministry had then asked these 58,275 pensioners to get their annual identification done by May 25.
Let us tell you, in April last month, the Defense Ministry had issued a clarification regarding non-payment of pension, in which it was said that in the investigation process it has come to the fore that about 3 lakh 30 thousand pensioners had not got their verification done. Till April 25, 2.65 lakh pensioners have got their verification done, while still about 58 thousand pensioners have not completed this process but orders have been issued for their pension payment.
On the difficulties being faced in the pension process, the Defense Ministry had said that banks are verified every year in November to identify the retired personnel. However, due to Corona last year it was extended from 30 November 2021 to 31 March 2022, which has now been extended till 25 May.
