On 26 April, the Supreme Court had rejected all the petitions in which suspicion of tampering of EVMs was expressed. The court had termed the entire matter baseless and rejected the demand for voting through ballot papers. Then the court had said that the candidates who suspect EVM tampering should complain in writing to the Election Commission within seven days of the declaration of the election results. Demand a re-examination of the EVM. In such a situation, the engineers will check the memory of the EVM’s micro-controller. The court had also made it clear that the entire expense of this will have to be borne by the candidate. If tampering in the election results is proved, then all the money will be returned to the candidate.

After this direction of the Supreme Court, 8 candidates from Congress, NCP, YSR Congress, Biju Janata Dal, DMDK demanded verification of EVMs at 92 polling centers. One of these names is also of a BJP candidate. BJP candidate from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, Sujay Vikhe Patil has demanded verification of EVMs at 40 polling centers. Vikhe Patil lost to NCP Sharad Pawar faction candidate Nilesh Lanke. The commission had said that candidates coming in second or third place will have to pay Rs 47,200 for the EVM set.
