Agartala. A large quantity of narcotics have been found in two separate operations by the police and the army in the Bangladesh border area. Giving information on Saturday, the police said that secret input was received about a deserted house on the Bangladesh border in Tripura. It was known that some illegal business was going on here. When the police and BSF raided the spot, a large consignment of narcotic pills famous as ‘Yaba’ was found, whose cost is around Rs 20 lakh. The police have arrested the house owner Salem Bhuiyan (51) and are interrogating him.
Sharing details of this with the media, a senior police officer said that banned ‘Yaba’ (a type of narcotic) tablets worth 20 lakh were seized in a district of West Tripura on Friday. West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar told reporters that based on a secret information, a joint team of Tripura Police and Border Security Force (BSF) raided a house in Matinagar village of Sepahijala district bordering Bangladesh and seized more than 20,000 Yaba tablets, a pistol and four cartridges.
On the other hand, the police have seized ganja worth about 50 lakhs from a vehicle. Police said that when a vehicle going from Agartala to Assam was searched in Churaibari, 275 kg of ganja was found in it. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled, a thorough search is going on. North Tripura Superintendent of Police Bhanu P Chakraborty said that the value of ganja found in the vehicle from Churaibari area is more than Rs 50 lakh. Let us tell you that Yaba is called ‘crazy drug’ and it is banned in India. It is a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.
