A college student returning from a party was raped, the person who gave her a lift had bad intentions

Bengaluru: A rape incident has come to light in Bengaluru in which a student was returning from a party. It is being told that the accused first gave a lift to the victim and later raped her. According to Additional Police Commissioner (Eastern Region) Raman Gupta, the victim, who is a final year degree student in a college in the city, was returning to her home in Hebbagodi after a party in Koramangala. The police officer told reporters, “The person from whom she took a ‘lift’ attacked her criminally and raped her. We have registered a case of rape and started investigation.”

He said prima facie it appears that she had gone to a get-together party in Koramangala. “There is only one suspect. The man who gave her a lift is the one who allegedly committed the rape and our investigation is ongoing,” the officer said.

According to Gupta, he and other police officials visited the spot and also spoke to the victim and her relatives. He further said, “We have gathered all the information and formed five teams. We are investigating further and the culprit will be arrested soon.”
