The jeep of pilgrims swept away in the strong current of water.
Champawat: In Champawat district of Uttarakhand, pilgrims had to face the wrath of bad weather once again. Here, a jeep of pilgrims overturned due to sudden rise in water level of a rain drain. It is being told that Max Jeep was going to Purnagiri Dham with nine pilgrims. Meanwhile, the water level of Kirori drain suddenly increased on Tanakpur-Purnagiri road. The drain water started flowing over the road. The flow of water was so fast that the jeep got caught in it and got washed away. At present, a teenager travelling in the jeep has died, while two pilgrims are missing. At the same time, other pilgrims have been rescued.
The drain overflowed due to rain
Let us tell you that it is raining continuously on the Tanakpur-Purnagiri road. Due to the rain, a jeep full of pilgrims was washed away in the Kiroda drain which was in spate. As soon as the information of this incident was received, the SDM of Tanakpur reached the spot along with SDRF and police team. After this, a rescue operation was started here. The rescue team has rescued 7 people. All were sent to the Sub District Hospital Tanakpur for treatment. A 14-year-old girl died during treatment here. Two people are still missing.
A girl child died during treatment
District Magistrate of Champawat district Navneet Pandey, who reached the spot, informed that the administrative rescue team reached the spot as soon as the information was received. There were a total of 9 people in the vehicle, out of which 7 people were evacuated. Out of these, a girl died during treatment. The search for two missing pilgrims in the jeep is still on. Sonu, a pilgrim who was rescued in this incident, said that there were 6 people of his family in the vehicle, out of which a 14-year-old girl died during treatment and two people are still missing.
