These days, there is intense heat in Texas and the temperature has reached around 40. Recently, when this man was working in a temperature of 37.7 degrees Celsius, he got upset with the heat. Due to the extreme heat, the man was feeling thirsty again and again. To get relief from this, the man kept drinking water continuously and drank about 11 liters (3 gallons) of water within 5 hours. After this, he started having nausea, fatigue, chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

These symptoms were similar to a heart attack, so he was immediately taken to the hospital. During treatment, doctors said that the man drank too much water, due to which the sodium in his blood decreased drastically and his health deteriorated. This is called water intoxication in medical terms. Usually, this dangerous condition can arise due to drinking too much water at once. Water intoxication can cause swelling in the brain, stroke and in many cases can also lead to death.

According to health experts So when the salt and electrolytes in the body become diluted due to drinking excessive water and the kidneys are not able to remove this water from the body. This can cause swelling, polyuria, hyponatremia and poor metabolism. Our kidneys can handle only a limited amount of water at a time. Drinking excessive amounts of fluids in a short period of time can cause serious health risks. If such a mistake is made, symptoms ranging from swelling in the body cells to heart attack can be seen.

However, every person needs to drink more or less water and there is no fixed amount of it. Even if people do not feel thirsty, they should not forcefully drink excessive amounts of water. Doing this can be fatal. If you drink 3-4 liters of water within an hour and are unable to throw it out, it can affect your kidneys. People are advised to drink about 8-10 glasses of water in a day, so that the electrolyte balance is maintained.
