The activities regarding the assembly elections in Maharashtra have intensified. Elections are going to be held there in the next two-three months. Meanwhile, a statement by Ajit Pawar, who rebelled against his uncle Sharad Pawar and took over the NCP, has created a stir. After being rejected by the public in the last Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar is currently on the Jan Samman Yatra. During this time, he gave this statement in an interview.
Talking to a news channel, he said that he had made many mistakes in the last election. In the last Lok Sabha election, Ajit’s faction of NCP won only one seat. In this election, the opposition India Alliance performed brilliantly. Out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state, Congress won 14, Shiv Sena Uddhav faction won nine and NCP Ajit faction won eight. On the other hand, NDA’s biggest constituent party BJP won nine and Shiv Sena Shinde faction won seven seats.
After the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar is constantly touring to strengthen his party. However, his uncle Sharad Pawar is constantly trying to weaken him. He has succeeded in bringing many of his close leaders to his side.
It was a mistake to take down Sunetra
In the interview, Ajit Pawar said that the decision to field his wife Sunetra Pawar from Baramati seat in the Lok Sabha elections was wrong. Sharad Pawar’s daughter and Ajit Pawar’s cousin Supriya Sule has been an MP from there for a long time. This seat became a battle between sister-in-law and sister-in-law. Sharad Pawar himself reached out to the people for his daughter Supriya and she won with a good margin.
Ajit Pawar further said that he loves all his sisters. No one should be allowed to bring politics into the house. I have made a mistake by pitting my wife against my sister. This should not have happened. Although the party parliamentary board had taken this decision. But now I admit that it was wrong.
Actually, the Baramati Lok Sabha election was between Sunetra and Supriya but it indirectly became a show of strength between the uncle and nephew. Baramati is the seat from where Sharad Pawar has won the MP and MLA elections 14 times. He has been winning from here since 1967.
When asked about the continuous attacks on Sharad Pawar by BJP and Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar said that the leaders of the NDA alliance should understand what he is saying. When we sit together, I put forward my point.
