Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra was on Friday (27 June 2025) in Puri, Odisha. A large crowd gathered during the Rath Yatra. More than 500 people were injured due to overcrowding. Many people gathered at one place while pulling the chariot of Lord Balabhadra. The chariot was trapped at one turn of the road, causing people to gather there. This increased the crowd.

Security officials said people also went to places where they were forbidden to go. This blocked the path. Due to the scorching heat and congestion, the health of many devotees started deteriorating. He was immediately admitted to Puri Medical College. The condition of about 8 people is said to be critical. Odisha minister Mukesh Mahaling said that people fainted due to excess humidity.

The minister said that the temple has primary health centers. Mahaling also informed that complete arrangements of glucose and water are being made. After sunset, the Rath Rath Yatra will reach Gundicha Temple, 3 km from Jagannath Temple on Saturday (28 June 2025). Gundi is believed to be the house of Lord Jagannath’s aunt. Lord Jagannath will return to the Jagannath temple with his brother Bhagwan Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra on 5 July 2025 after staying here for 9 days.
