Jaipur. Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated with great pomp and show across the country today. Today we are going to tell you the story of a brother and sister whose relationship is very unique. These brother and sister are Amar Shaheed Captain Amit Bhardwaj and his sister Sunita Dhaunkaria. Amit Bhardwaj sacrificed himself for the country in the Kargil war in 1999. Amit may have been martyred but Sunita did not stop sending him Rakhi. The only difference is that earlier she used to send Rakhi only to Amit and today she celebrates the festival of Rakhi by sending Raksha Sutra to his entire unit.
Captain Amit Bhardwaj, a resident of the Pink City Jaipur, was martyred on 17 May 1999 in the Kargil war while protecting Mother India by fighting the enemies on Bajrang peak in Kaksar region. Martyr Amit Bhardwaj’s body was handed over to his family after 60 days. The soldiers of his unit told the family that to save his fellow soldiers, Amit Bhardwaj kept fighting the enemies till his last breath despite being hit by 17 bullets. Along with martyr Amit Bhardwaj, one of his soldiers also kept fighting the enemies till his last breath.
4 She sends Rakhi to every soldier of the Jat Regiment
Captain Amit Bhardwaj’s sister Sunita Dhaunkaria continued the tradition of sending Rakhi in memory of her brother even after his martyrdom. It is still continuing. Sunita told that she used to send Rakhi to her brother on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. Even after his martyrdom in the Kargil war, she did not break this tradition. She continued sending Rakhi to every soldier of her brother’s unit 4 Jat Regiment, which continues even today. Many times she also goes to the unit and ties Rakhi.
The whole unit calls Sunita as Didi
Sunita said that when she sends Rakhi, she feels the presence of her brother. The soldiers of Amit’s unit also respect her Rakhi. She said proudly of her army brothers that they always take care of their comrade’s family. The entire unit of martyr Amit Bhardwaj calls Sunita as Didi. They give her the love and respect of a sister. This is a unique and emotional story which reminds us of the love and respect of a brother and sister on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
