The government has got relief from the High Court today regarding the disputed SI recruitment 2021. The court has fixed the next hearing date in this case on 2 July. Earlier, Additional Advocate General Vigyan Shah filed a petition in the court on behalf of the state government. It has been told that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is busy with the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi, due to which a final decision could not be taken on this matter. Earlier, the petitioners’ counsel Harendra Neil had opposed the petition that the government does not want to take any decision regarding the recruitment, so time is being wasted.
The government told the court that a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee was held on 20 May as directed by the High Court. However, there was a meeting of NITI Aayog in Delhi on 24 and 25 May, in which the Chief Minister was to participate. Therefore, no decision could be taken at the Chief Minister level. The government has appealed to the court to give more time for the final decision.
Earlier, the government had called a meeting of the sub -committee on 13 May and sought time, but due to the operation vermilion, many ministers could not attend it. Additionally, the meeting could not be completed due to the unwell of a ministerial member of the committee. After this, the government held a second meeting on 21 May and also held a meeting on 20 May, but no discussion has been held at the Chief Minister level so far.
Meanwhile, the petitioners’ counsel Harendra Neil has opposed the government’s application. He said that the government is deliberately avoiding the decision and is not following the court orders.
In the last hearing, the bench of Justice Sameer Jain had given a clear warning to the government that if the decision was not taken by May 26, the officers and responsible people involved in this process may have to bear the consequences. It remains to be seen how satisfied the court is on Monday and what order does the court give further.
