After a resounding victory in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now eyeing Chhattisgarh and the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has decided to contest the assembly elections in the tribal-dominated state next year. As part of the plan, senior AAP leader and Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai will be on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh on Sunday to speed up the party’s preparations for the assembly elections in the state. Chhattisgarh is currently ruled by Congress. AAP’s Purvanchal unit in-charge and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha will accompany Rai to Chhattisgarh.
During his visit, Rai will hold several meetings with AAP leaders and workers to prepare the party’s action plan for the upcoming assembly polls and will also launch a massive membership drive in the state, an AAP leader said. He will inaugurate the party’s state office in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, on Sunday.
An AAP leader said that on Monday, Rai will participate in a ‘Vijay Yatra’ organized by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Raipur to highlight the party’s resounding victory in Punjab and make the party an alternative to the Congress and the BJP in Chhattisgarh. will present as
When asked about the purpose of the yatra, Rai said, “This yatra is to prepare our action plan for the assembly elections to be held next year. Through our Vijay Yatra, we will take the message of our party to the people. AAP’s Delhi convener Rai said the party has decided to contest the Chhattisgarh assembly elections next year as the people of the state, especially the youth and women, are disappointed with the Congress government and want “change”.
“For 15 years after its formation as a separate state, BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh did not fulfill its promises. In the last assembly election, people voted for change and gave their mandate to the Congress. He said the Congress has also “completely failed” in fulfilling the promises made to the people of the state during its three-and-a-half year rule.
Rai said, “While the Congress is plagued by internal squabbles, there is a lot of despair among the people of the state, especially the youth, women and tribals. He has also seen BJP rule and Congress. Now, they want change. AAP had fielded its candidates on 85 of the total 90 seats in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections in 2018, but could not win a single seat.
