New Delhi. Congress has once again declared senior leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi as its Rajya Sabha candidate. This time Congress wants to send Singhvi to Rajya Sabha from Telangana. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Singhvi’s candidature. Congress had declared Singhvi as its candidate from Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha elections held in April this year, but the party MLAs rebelled and cross-voted, due to which Singhvi lost the election. After the Rajya Sabha elections, there was turmoil in the politics of Himachal Pradesh for a long time.

The speaker of the assembly had disqualified 6 rebel Congress MLAs. After this, these MLAs resigned and joined the BJP. Three independent MLAs also voted in favor of the BJP, later all three of them also joined the BJP. Let us tell you that voting is to be held on 3 September for the 12 Rajya Sabha seats that have fallen vacant in different states of the country. The states where elections are to be held include Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra, which have 2 seats each, while Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana and Odisha have 1 seat each.

In Telangana, BRS leader K. Keshava Rao recently resigned from Rajya Sabha membership due to which by-elections are being held here. According to the Election Commission, voting will be held on September 3 from 9 am to 4 pm, after which counting of votes will start from 5 pm and the results will be declared at the same time. Notification will be issued on August 14 for 12 Rajya Sabha seats. The last date for filing nomination papers has been fixed as August 21. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on August 22. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till August 26 and 27.
