Chandigarh. In Panchkula, the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB), taking major action against corruption, has arrested Patwari Rakesh Kumar, who was posted in Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP), taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. This action was taken on 27 May 2025 today.
The complainant told ACB in his complaint that HSVP acquired the land of him and his four brothers in the village Saktari in 2003. At that time he was compensated at the rate of Rs 374 per square yard. Considering this amount as low, he filed a petition in the High Court.
The High Court, while hearing the petition, ordered the compensation to increase the compensation to Rs 498 per square. Following this court order, HSVP started the process of giving compensation at a new rate, but this file was stopped with Patwari Rakesh Kumar for investigation and report.
The complainant alleges that when he reached the HSVP office to get information about his file, Patwari Rakesh Kumar sought a bribe of Rs 25,000 according to every family member in exchange for reporting the file. Later, the matter was decided for 20 thousand rupees.
Taking immediate action on the complaint, ACB Panchkula laid a trap. According to the plan, as soon as Rakesh Kumar took Rs 20,000 cash from the complainant, the ACB team caught him red handed.
In this case, a case has been registered against the accused on the Prosecution Bureau, Panchkula under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on the prosecution number 6, dated 27.05.2025. At present, the ACB team is questioning the accused and further investigation is on.
ACB has appealed to the general public to immediately contact the Anti Corruption Bureau if a bribe is sought by a government employee for work. Corruption can be curbed only with the cooperation of the public.
