The state government was facing coal crisis due to almost exhaustion of coal in phase one in Parsa East and Kanta basin. He informed that the clearance of Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department has also been received in the 1136 hectare forest land of the second phase of Parsa East Kanta Basin.
Additional Chief Secretary Energy Dr. Subodh Agrawal informed that the state would get about 2.7 rakes of coal per day when coal production starts from this new Parsa coal block having an area of more than 841 hectares. According to a rough estimate, this block is expected to produce 5 million tonnes of coal per annum. One thousand rakes of coal will be available annually from this new block. This coal block is expected to have 150 million tonnes of coal reserves in 30 years. With this, the thermal power plants of the state will now get more coal than the state coal blocks.
RK Sharma, CMD, Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam informed that efforts have been started to start coal mining in both the coal blocks at the earliest. On an average, 9 to 10 rakes of coal will be received per day from both the coal blocks once mining starts.
