New Delhi. CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat visited Jahangirpuri on Wednesday and said that despite the order of the Supreme Court, the action on illegal construction is going on in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area.
CPIM leader Brinda Karat said that the removal of encroachments has stopped for the time being. I appeal to the people of Jahangirpuri to maintain peace and harmony and wait for the next order of the Supreme Court.
He said, this action was against the Constitution. The Special Commissioner of Delhi Police has assured me that now following the orders of the Supreme Court, illegal constructions will not be demolished.
Brinda Karat, who reached Jahangipuri, said whether the order of the Supreme Court is being followed or not. I have come here to see this. He said- The Supreme Court had ordered to maintain status quo on the anti-encroachment drive at 10:45 am. I have come here to stop the bulldozers who are flouting the law here and flouting the orders of the Supreme Court. Brinda Karat once stood in front of the bulldozer. But the police removed them from there.
In fact, the Supreme Court had said in its order that the illegal construction in Jahangipuri should be stopped for the time being and the status quo should be maintained. The action of North MCD was going on that suddenly around 11 am, the Supreme Court intervened in the matter and stayed the action of MCD. The court asked for the status quo to be maintained for the time being. The next hearing in the matter will now be held on Thursday.
