adani group Mundra Port of India has made a record. Container ship MSC Anna has anchored at Mundra Port. This is the largest ship ever to come to any port in India. This ship made history by anchoring at Mundra Port on 26 May. This event is also a milestone for the Indian shipping industry. Before Mundra Port, there was no such port in India where such large container ships could come. Earlier these ships used to anchor at the transshipment hub of Singapore or Sri Lanka. From there, containers were brought to India by loading them in small ships. Now these ships can come directly to Mundra Port.
These ships can go only to selected ports of the world
MSC Anna is a ship of Mediterranean Shipping Company, one of the world’s largest shipping companies. It is a ship of the Ultra Large Container Vessel category. In the shipping industry, container ships with a capacity of 14,501 TEU or more are called ULCVs. Ships of this category can anchor only at a few selected ports in the world. A draft of 15.2 meters or more is required for berthing this ship.
Equal to 4 football fields in length
The size of MSC Anna, which arrived at Adani’s Mundra Port, is quite large. The length of this ship is equal to four football fields. The length of MSC Anna is 399.98 meters. 19,200 TEU containers can be loaded on this ship at a time. The arrival draft of this ship is 16.3 meters. It can be brought only to Adani Mundra Port. Earlier in July 2023, a similar ship MV MSC Hamburg had anchored at Adani Ports. Adani Group’s Mundra Port is spread over 35,000 acres.
